Live Birds
All sales are final, no refunds or exchanges will be given. Colors and patterns vary. Solid black skin is rare in our pens, we occasionally get only 4 toes in some of our pens, (most common in Mille Fleur pen, focusing on color/pattern & type) we do not count these birds as pet quality. Unexpected colors can pop up in some of our pens, when ordering chicks especially, you understand that you may end up with a color you were not expecting. Mix ups can happen, if you order pullet chicks and we accidentally send you a rooster, we will refund you the difference of straight-run vs pullet cost, just send up a video of your bird crowing. We do not vaccinate our birds. Stress can cause illness in birds and moving/shipping them to a new location can bring on a lot of stress. Due to this, we do not offer any health guarantee on our birds. Always quarantine your new birds and give them vitamins upon arrival. You are responsible for any health testing prior to pickup or shipping. We do not have a avian vet locally. Prior to shipping we give the birds vitamins and pack their box with shavings, feed and peaches with electrolytes mixed in. Young chicks will have feed, hydro grogel mix with electrolytes and 110 hour rated heat pack in their shipping box. Our chick boxes are rated for 25 chicks, we only allow 20 per box so we have room for all the supplies we send with them. If you choose to ship your birds, you assume all risks involved. We do everything we can to prepare the birds to get to you safely but we have no control over how USPS handles your birds. As of 2/13/25 we have never had a DOA. We have had 3 shipments take up to 4 and 5 days to arrive due to USPS negligence and all birds were thankfully okay (just thirsty!), by purchasing our birds, you agree to not hold us liable for USPS delays and mishandling of your birds. There ae no refunds on shipping fees OR DOA.

Hatching Eggs
There are no refunds or exchanges for hatching eggs. Hatching eggs are a gamble and we cannot be responsible for your hatch rate, fertility, shipping delays or damage during shipping. We have no control over how USPS handles your package. Our breeding pens are considered project pens. If you are looking for solid black skin, 100% chance they will have 5 toes, then do not buy our eggs. Project pens do result in some unexpected surprise colors, please keep this in mind also when ordering eggs from us. Colors and patterns vary, we have splits in some of our pens whose offspring have a 50% chance of being solid colors. ALL FEATHER TYPES ARE POSSIBLE.

Straightrun Silkies / unsexed silkies
Straight-run Silkie chickens for sale / unsexed silkie chickens for sale: means You will receive an assorted mix of silkies that could be male (roosters) or females (pullets/hens).
Show quality silkies / 4h silkies
Occasionally we offer show potential silkies for sale. These silkies are SOP standard colors (blue silkies, black silkies, splash silkies) and pass our visual inspection at the time of sale to be a potential candidate for show potential. Keep in mind, that some birds may develop faults as they mature. We have not control over this, we can only judge our silkies at the time of sale upon our visual inspection. No silkie can be called show quality without placing in a show, so we cannot call any of the silkies we sell “show quality silkies.”
Project colors like chocolate mottled silkies, black mottled silkies, Mille Fleur Silkies, Calico silkies (and more!) can be shown. The more these new colors are shown at poultry shows, the closer we get to getting these color recognized by the Poultry Association!
Splits
Splits are birds that carry the gene for a pattern or color but do not display it. This pullet above is a Mille Fleur Split, she does not have any pattern but carries the Mille gene. Some juveniles can appear to be splits but after they molt, they get gain more pattern. Whereas some birds have pattern but after their first molt, they start to lose their pattern and turn mostly solid. Due to this, we have no way of knowing if the bird we are selling you is truly a split until they are over a year old.
Breeder Potential
These are birds that display the traits we personally look for in our own breeding birds. These are priced for breeders and/or show homes. These listings will show photos or video of the actual bird you will receive.
Pet Quality Silkies
Pet quality silkies to us are silkies that have noticeable faults at the time of sale. For us here at Fluffy Bottom’s Coop, a straight comb (circled in red in photo above) or a crossed beak makes a bird an instant pet quality bird here. We thankfully do not have them show up very often. Since most of our breeding pens are project colors, we do not consider the absence of dark skin or a missing toe as pet quality here. Keep this in mind before purchasing your silkie chickens from us. Keep in mind, that some birds may develop faults as they mature. We have no control over this and can only judge our silkies at the time of sale upon our visual inspection.
Silkie Pullets / Silkie Hens
Silkie pullets for sale are young hens/ females that are not yet laying. Silkie hens for sale are female silkies that are laying. Our silkie pullets are DNA verified.
