By placing an order and submitting payment, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agreed to these Terms & Conditions.

Sales Policy

  • All sales are final.
  • Live animal sales. Deposits, balances paid, and pre-orders are non-refundable.
  • We are a small breeder, not a large hatchery, we do not have exact shipping dates.
  • All of our chicken’s are considered dual purpose, hen’s lay small-medium size eggs and on average lay 4-5 eggs a week.
  • If you cancel an order, funds paid will be issued as a store credit for future auctions or ready-to-ship birds or eggs only. Credits do not expire.
  • Chargebacks or payment disputes void any credit on file if Fluffy Bottom’s Coop prevails in the dispute.
  • Orders may be modified before birds are selected or shipping/pickup is scheduled, but doing so may affect your place in line and estimated fulfillment time.
  • Once birds are selected or shipping/pickup has been scheduled, no changes may be made.
  • Fluffy Bottom’s Coop reserves the right to cancel any order. If we are unable to fulfill all or part of an order by the end of the year, the affected amount will be refunded or customer can choose to be placed at the top of our next season’s order list.

Pre-Orders & Wait Times

  • We will only contact you when we have birds matching your order that are ready to ship, we do not send out weekly updates on your order.
  • We are a small breeder, not a large hatchery, our order fulfillment depends on egg production, fertility, hatch rates, growth rates, genetic outcomes, gender outcomes, weather, and other factors outside our control. We also hatch for ourselves. When ordering from us, you agree to be patient and understanding when and if delays occur.
  • We will not hold birds. If buyer is unable to receive the birds for any reason, the buyer’s order will be bumped to our next available group.
  • Exact shipping dates cannot be guaranteed. It could take multiple hatches to produce exactly what is ordered.
  • Customers requiring specific colors, feather types, or genders should expect longer wait times.
  • Larger pre-orders may require multiple shipments at different times throughout the season. Customers are responsible for their shipping fees for multiple shipments.
  • Pre-orders apply only to the specific age/birds you have reserved. A pre-order does not give you priority, first dibs, or early access to any other birds, older stock, or extra listings. We will not contact you to offer you older birds but you can always contact us to apply funds from an order already placed that has not already been scheduled to ship, to go towards any ready to ship listings or auctions you’re interested in.

Bird Selection

  • If your listing includes bird selection, photos and/or videos will be provided via email when birds become available that match your order.
  • Failure to respond promptly may result in losing your place in line.
  • Customers may pass on a selection and wait for the next available group to choose from but we cannot hold individual birds from one group so the customer can also pick from a separate group at a later date.
  • We have two minimum requirement for Juveniles that are 6-13 weeks of age and 3 minimum for day old chicks up to 6 weeks of age (4 minimum if you require shipping).
  • Mystery boxes, discounted birds, and free “misfit” birds are seller-selected.
  • Discounted birds may include cosmetic faults in their wings, crests, combs, beaks, toes etc
  • We do not discount birds missing toes or light skin, our pens are considered project pens and do result in some chicks with only 4 toes, light skin etc

Bird Quality & Characteristics

  • Our birds are sold as dual purpose and/or pets.
  • We breed toward the Standard of Perfection but cannot guarantee show quality in any of our birds.
  • Colors, feathering, combs, skin color, toe count, and other traits may vary and may change as birds mature, this is out of our control.
  • Cosmetic faults may develop over time and are not grounds for refund, this is out of our control.
  • We outsource our DNA testing to confirm genders. DNA sexed birds sold as pullets that later prove incorrect results will receive a refund of the price difference between pullet and cockerel pricing only. You must be able to prove this bird came from us. Video your birds upon arrival first showing our shipping box/return label, opening the box to remove the birds then video the bird(s) showing markings, feet/toes, combs/beak and any identifiable marks so in the event you confirm a bird we sent you is not a pullet, you can send us the updated video of the bird, when it is at least 5 months of age, alongside the original video so we can confirm it is in fact a bird we sent you. Cockerels that end up pullets will not be refunded any amount.

Health

  • Shipping, relocation, environmental changes, and flock integration can cause stress-related illness that are out of our control.
  • Once birds leave our possession, all responsibility transfers to the buyer.
  • Fluffy Bottom’s Coop’s flock is tested yearly for Pullorum Typhoid to maintain out NPIP certification with the state of Iowa and practices strict biosecurity. Any additional testing is the responsibility of the customer before the bird leaves our possession, we do have access to an avian vet.
  • At this time, we do not vaccinate our birds/chicks.

Fluffy Bottom’s Coop illness history in our flock
(not all birds have been effected/treated due to flock separation): Each year we usually encounter coccidiosis (treated with Corid or Endocox), Wry neck  (treated with selenium & vitamin E gel, brewers yeast, garlic) & seasonal sniffles (treated with Tiagard).
Notable illnesses:

  1. 2024 we had 3 birds with fowl pox lesions and no other symptoms (birds were separated, no treatment was given aside from vitamins and all 3 made a full recovery before being introduced back into our flock).
  2. May 2026 we had a horrific experience with swarms of buffalo gnats attacking our flock over a two day period. Surviving birds had swollen, puffy faces from the toxic bites from the gnats. This cleared up within 4-5 days just with vitamins and electrolytes given.

Shipping & Pickup

  • Local pickup is encouraged or to hire a private transport arranged by the customer.

  • Buyers are responsible for all shipping costs unless otherwise stated.
  • Shipping dates are dependent on weather, we reserve the right to delay shipping if conditions are not safe for our birds.
  • Safe temperatures are 50-85 degrees for shipping. Little chicks do better with warmer temps. You are responsible for monitoring your temperatures. Most post offices call right away in the morning for you to pickup your birds once they arrive.
  • Shipping fees are non-refundable.
  • Insurance is optional and must be requested and paid for by the buyer before label purchase. Buyer is responsible for handling USPS claims.
  • Customer agrees to be available to promptly pick up birds upon arrival at their post office.

  • Customers who violate these standards or repeatedly demand exceptions to these Terms & Conditions may have their orders cancelled at our discretion.
  • Orders cancelled due to customer misconduct are not eligible for refunds or store credit and may result in placement on our Do Not Sell list. Threatening charge backs is an immediate order cancellation.

Liability Waiver

By purchasing from Fluffy Bottom’s Coop, the buyer accepts all risks associated with raising, transporting, housing, breeding, and caring for live poultry and releases Fluffy Bottom’s Coop from liability for any illness, injury, loss, death, property damage, emotional distress, or financial damages arising from the purchase or ownership of birds or hatching eggs from Fluffy Bottom’s Coop.

Terms & Conditions
Hatching Eggs

Silkie hatching eggs for sale
  • No refunds, exchanges, or replacements are offered for hatching eggs under any circumstances
  • Cancellations will result in a credit on file, once money is paid, it is non-refundable.
  • Customers understand that they are purchasing extra eggs that we ourselves cannot fit in our own incubators and they must be patient when receiving their hatching eggs. Multiple dozen orders may need to ship out on different dates and not at the same time.
  • Customers are contacted prior to shipping their hatching eggs to confirm they will be ready to receive them before we will ship them. Prompt response is necessary to receive the eggs we are contacting you about or we will move to next order in line so the eggs can be shipped to meet our fresh egg policy.
  •
  • Hatching eggs are a gamble This goes for picked up eggs and shipped eggs. We are not responsible for:

    • Hatch rates

    • Fertility outcomes

    • Your incubator issues
    • Shipping delays

    • Damage during shipping

    • Lost or late packages

  • Fertility in our breeding pens is checked bi-weekly, but fertility is never guaranteed because there is no way to determine if the eggs we send you have been fertilized.

  • Pre-orders have no timeline on when we will send them, we ship eggs when we have extras. you agree to be patient.

  • When pre-ordering eggs from different breeding pens, you understand we cannot ship your eggs until we have fresh eggs from each of your chosen pens and fertility has been tested within the last two weeks before shipping. You agree to be patient when placing pre-orders.
  • Your choice dozen eggs will be labeled from what color pen they came from.  Mystery/hens choice dozens may or may not come labeled. Please view our Chick ID page to identify what colors you hatched.
  • Eggs are shipped via USPS Priority Mail, which typically takes 4–5 days to arrive if there are no delays. If we are planning to be near a UPS, then we will ship using their 2 day delivery services. Boxes are clearly labeled to be held at your local post office with your phone number for them to call you for pickup. You are responsible for providing the correct phone number when placing your order.

  • Our breeding pens are considered project pens. Do not purchase our hatching eggs if you are expecting:

    • Guaranteed solid black skin

    • No colors gene carriers (mottled, mille, chocolate etc)
    • A 100% chance of five toes

    • Perfect combs

    • Perfect crests

    • Strict SOP (Standard of Perfection) colors only

  • Project pens may produce unexpected or surprise colors and patterns. If you only want certain colors, we strongly encourage your to order chicks or juveniles instead.

  • Colors and patterns will vary between offspring.

  • Some breeding pens include splits, meaning offspring may have a 50% chance of being solid colors.

  • We intentionally keep splits in certain pens to increase black skin quality, which is a primary focus going into the 2026 season.

  • 90% of what we hatch are Silkie but all feather types are possible, including Showgirls.

  • We bubble wrap each egg and ship them inside a box surrounded by poly-fill stuffing to prevent them from moving freely in the box. This is subject to change if we find a safer way to ship our hatching eggs. We no longer label boxes with “hatching eggs.” We have found this made our boxes targets for jerk handlers that resulted in damaged eggs & boxes. If you want your shipping box to have “hatching eggs” written on the box, please request this when placing your order in the notes section.
  • Beyond USPS priority mail’s standard insurance that they may or may not be included with your label, we do not insure packages unless requested and you are responsible for paying any extra fees.
