Preparing assorted chick boxes is a fun family day for us here at Fluffy Bottom’s Coop! We select an assortment of different colors & patterns so everyone receives a fun variety of babies!
PLEASE READ BEFORE ORDERING!
- Chicks are unsexed & roughly 3 weeks old when shipped to you. We make sure everyone is strong, healthy & thriving before we ship them and travel is much easier on them then day old chicks. If you’re picking them up and would like them sooner, just leave us a note at checkout.
- 80% of what we hatch are silkies and it’s a very strong possibility that Silkies is all you will receive. However, it is possible you could also receive a chick with satin, satin frizzle or silkie frizzle feather types in your chick box. Showgirls are also possible but slimmer chance due to us not hatching many. If you’d rather not have showgirls, please note your order at checkout.
- We do not have exact shipping dates. We hope to start shipping chick boxes by May & have all shipped/picked up by July. We will contact you roughly a week prior to shipping/pickup so you have time to prepare for your chicks. Please note your order at checkout with any dates you will not be home to receive your chicks.
- FOR SHIPPING: 4 minimum & 10 maximum chicks per shipping box. Chicks are shipped USPS Priority Mail Express with a water bottle and lots of feed for their journey to you.
- FOR PICKUP: 3 Minimum. We are located in Palo, Iowa and for bio-security, we will arrange to meet you at our local Casey’s gas station to pickup your chicks. Please leave a note at checkout if you’d like us to contact you if we have chicks available sooner than May.
- We ship orders out in the order we receive them and when temperatures are safe on our end AND YOURS! No exceptions. The safety of all our birds is our top priority.

Your Silkie chicks are shipped when they are roughly 3 weeks of age like this chick in the video. Â
We love putting these chicks boxes together with our boys! We want everyone to receive a fun variety of chicks that look different from each other and do our best to do so! Here is a look at the colors and feather types you could receive.
Chocolate/Mottled: Chocolate Mottled and Chocolate in color. Majority of what we hatch will be mottled with only a few splits/solid chocolates per hatch. Most of our chicks will have silkie feathers but all feather types possible (silkie, silkie frizzle, satin & satin frizzle). Small chance of showgirls.
Black/Mottled: Black mottled and black in color. Majority of what we hatch will be mottled with only a few splits/solid blacks per hatch that can be hard to identify because some hatch with a decent amount of white one them. Most of our chicks will have silkie feathers but all feather types possible  (silkie, silkie frizzle, satin & satin frizzle). Small chance of Showgirls.
Blue/Mottled (NEW BREEDING PEN): Blue mottled and blue in color. Majority of what we hatch will be mottled with only a few splits/solid blues per hatch that can be hard to identify because some hatch with a decent amount of white one them. Most of our chicks will have silkie feathers but all feather types possible  (silkie, silkie frizzle, satin & satin frizzle). Small chance of Showgirls.
Blue/Splash: (NEW BREEDING PEN) Blue (mottled possible)and Splash in color. Most of our chicks will have silkie feathers but all feather types possible (silkie, silkie frizzle, satin & satin frizzle). Small chance of Showgirls. These babies come from the same pen as our Mauve/Chocolate splash and some look very similar and mix ups can happen, so keep in mind when ordering from this color group that you could possibly end up a mauve/chocolate splash by accident.
Mauve/Chocolate Splash: (NEW BREEDING PEN)Â Mauve (mottled possible) and mauve/chocolate splash. Most of our chicks will have silkie feathers but all feather types possible (silkie, silkie frizzle, satin & satin frizzle). Small chance of Showgirls.
Blue Cream (NEW PEN): Silkie feather type only.
Mille/Calico:Â Milles and Calico in color. Satin & Silkie feather types only. Splits/solids are possible. No Showgirls or frizzles are possible from this pen.
Mauve/Mottled: Mauve and Mauve mottled in color. This is our original light mauve/mottled pen. Silkie feather types only.
NEW PROJECT PENS: are always in the works, you could receive a color we have yet to announce!
